A method of forming multiples rapidly. Soft clay is placed in a mold, pressed into or onto the mold walls either mechanically or by hand, then trimmed to size by hand or with a jolley. The Greeks and Romans used hand-jiggering methods to make utilitarian ware, and potters today use modifications of this method. Mechanical jiggering is used in ceramic factories. In industry, kerosene is used as a lubricant instead of water. |
